I tried a lot of basboussa recipe, but the one that my sister gives me, was the best, it's so soft and delicious, you have to try it.
- 4 Eggs
- 1 glass of caster sugar ( water glass of 200ml will be for mesuring here)
- 1 glass of milk
- 1 glass of cooking oil
- 2 packets of baking powder
- 1 glass and 1/2 of semoulina
- 1 glass of bread crumbs
syrup:
- 200g sugar
- 150ml water
- 6 cardamon pods - optional
- zest and juice of 1 lemon
To make the syrup: Bring sugar, water and cardamon pods to the boil and simmer for 5 minutes or until slightly reduced. Add lemon zest and juice, remove from heat and set aside until needed.
beat the eggs, add the sugar, the milk, the oil, mix, add the baking powder the semolina and the bread crumbs, mix again, pour in a greased and floured tin (25 X 40 cm)
put it on the oven, check the check cooking with a cocktail stick.
remove it from the oven, and drizzle over the syrup.
cut small squares let it cool.
